ABOUT
The global guide to
ethical & halal
personal finance.
Built for professionals who invest across borders — and refuse to
choose between financial growth and their values.

— THE FOUNDER
From confusion
to clarity.
I moved from Tunisia to Italy in 2022 with a Business Management Master’s and a specific problem no textbook had solved: how do you build long-term wealth as a globally mobile professional, across brokers, tax systems, and Islamic principles, all at once? I finished top of my finance class. I still didn’t have a playbook for this.
I spent years in the market before I had the language for what was missing. Early on, I chased meme coins, bought into hype at the peak, and invested without a real strategy. I learned finance twice — first in theory, then in real life. The gap between the two is what this site is built to close.
The Capital Edit exists because no single resource brought ethical investing, halal finance, and expat complexity together — clearly, honestly, and in plain English.
— Shayma Solli
“ The Capital Edit is for the globally mobile, values-driven professional who refuses to choose between financial growth and their principles. You shouldn’t have to choose.“
The editorial mission
Where most finance
advice breaks down.
Most finance advice assumes one country, one system, no values.
The moment you live across borders, or invest with principles,
that advice stops working.
Islamic finance
Most Islamic finance content is either too academic, too Gulf-focused, or too vague to apply in Europe.
Expat complexity
Cross-border investing means fragmented brokers, double-tax treaties, and compliance gaps that most advisers quietly ignore.
Ethical investing
Most ESG frameworks are surface-level. Values-driven investors deserve screening that’s rigorous, not just well-branded.
Freelance & FIRE
Self-employed and globally mobile — you don’t fit the standard template. But you still need a wealth strategy that compounds.
What we stand for.
Three non-negotiables that shape every article, review,
and recommendation published here.
01
Radical honesty
We disclose incentives, share mistakes, and call out greenwashing — before you read anything that could influence a decision.
02
Clarity over complexity
Finance is complex enough. Every piece ends with something concrete you can actually apply, not more theory to sit on.
03
Values without compromise
Ethical and halal investing are treated with the same rigour as any conventional strategy.
EU-based
Real accounts,
real brokers, real tax
